The Student Union has rented a garden area in Uutela which is located in Vuosaari in the Eastern Helsinki. The whole garden area is divided into several plots that can be rented by the Student Union members - who then become as "plot farmers". 

The plot farmers operate and communicate with the Student Union's Committee of the Plot farming. 

The Committee of the Plot farming

  • has organized the plot farming activities as a whole

  • takes care of, administrates and controls that the rules and regulations given to the plot farming are followed by the plot farmers

  • reports to the Board of Directors in the Student Union. 

Some headlights related to the garden area (allotments?) as a whole:

  • Cheery actions with food and drinks are available e.g. in the summer and autumn "talkoot" (will check the word) in which the garden area and plots are maintained together. 

  • Harvest festivals, counseling sessions and other common activities are arranged based on the interests.

  • The plot farmers commit to follow the rules and regulations given for the plot farming - including also the common instructions set by the urban environment sector (kaupunkiympäristön toimiala - check translation). 

  • The water hose (letkukastelu) is absolutely forbidden for watering in the garden and in the plots.

  • Open fire is strictly forbidden in the whole garden area. 

  • Grilling is allowed only with movable grills with cover. It means grills that do not generate flying sparks.  However, grilling is absolutely forbidden during the times when the weather reports show warnings related to the wildfire and forest fire.
